According to the European Union, cyclists represent a growing share in the number of fatal accidents on the roads, being the only means of transport that has not reduced the number of fatalities with the increase in the number of users.
The number of fatal accidents with cyclists occurs mainly in urban areas, where the maximum speed is 50 km/h, but where cyclists and cars coexist on the same road, according to research by RTL Nieuws and the consultancy Sweco .
Anyone cycling on this type of road is almost nine times more likely to be involved in a road accident than cycling on a separate cycle path.
The separation and identification of the cycle path is the most important aspect for the safety of bicycle users and consequently the reduction of the number of fatal accidents.
With the growing number of children using bicycles to and from school, it is essential to invest in increasing the safety of these vulnerable users.
SMARTPATH presents a set of solutions to eliminate or minimize these problems. We have several solutions, which meet ANSR’s vision of: “Zero deaths on the roads every day”
